Notices: In first lesson you will learn something about:

- duration of different kind of notes
- triplets
- C Major Scale
- A Minor Scale
- picking
- Palm Mute
- tritones

You will also learn 2 exercises: simple speed exercise
and simple stretch exercise.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ex. 1 - You should know that there are several kinds of
notes:

1a) Whole Notes
1b) Half Notes
1c) Quarter Notes
1d) Eight Notes
1e) Sixteen Notes and so on...

Duration of one whole note (Bar 1) is equal to
duration of two half notes (Bar 2). Duration of one
half note is equal to duration of two quarter notes or
four eight notes, et caetera... Listen to example 1 to
understand how does it work.

Ex. 2 - This example shows you what an triplet is. The
duration of half notes triplet is equal to duration of one
whole note. Duration of one quarter notes triplet is
equal to duration of one half note etc... Listen to
Example 2.

Ex. 3 - This is the C Major scale. This scale is a very
common in popular music. To be able to play this scale
on guitar is essential if you want to play the guitar. Just
learn it!

Ex. 4 - This is the A Minor scale. Learn it too!

Ex. 5 - This exercise shows you what a Palm Mute is
and how to pick strings.

Firstly - to get a Palm Mute move your right hand
toward the neck of the guitar (cover a string that you
want to mute with your palm). Notes that you should
mute are played on muted guitar. In this exercise you
have to mute all of the notes.

Secondly - you should play this exercise in two ways:
with down picking (pick all the notes
from the top) only and with (5b): down stroke, up
stroke (pick string from the bottom), down stroke, up
stroke method. You can learn how to pick particular
note thanks to arrows that you can find near notes on
tablatures.

Ex. 6 - In this exercise you have to palm mute all the
notes. Play it in two ways (like in Ex. 5).

Ex. 7 - Play it without Palm Mute and with down strokes
only. This exercise includes tritones which are used
often by for example Metallica.

Ex. 8 - Play this exercise with down stroke, up stroke,
down stroke, up stroke method. Palm Mute all of the
notes.

Ex. 9 - This exercise will help you to increase your
speed. Increase tempo gradually. Play it with
specified fingers. Rember that:

1 means: "play this note with your index finger"
2 - "... middle finger"
3 - "... eee... I forgot what is the name of fourth finger
:)"
4 - "... little finger"

Ex. 10 - This exercise will help you to stretch your
fingers. Try to play it - I bet you can't (if you are a
begginer). But after some practice you will play it
without any problems. Palm mute all notes and play it
with down-up-down-up method. Remember - practice a
lot!

In second lesson we will learn our first song. CU :)

Lyric
Some like beautiful, perfect, and pretty
I see the good in the bad and the ugly
I need the volume one louder than ten
Put the pedal to the metal, needle into the red
If the windows ain’t shaking
Making my heart race
If I can’t feel it in my chest
I’m in the wrong damn place

Got a demon in my soul
And a voice in my head
Saying go, go, go
I can sleep when I’m dead
There’s a sonic revelation bringing me to my knees
And there’s a man down below that needs my sympathy
I got a ringing in my ears getting ready to burst
Screaming hallelujah mother fucker take me to church

I like it louder than the boom of a big bass drum
I need it harder than the sound of guitar grunge
I like to crank it up, make it thump, all needles to the core
Head banging in the pit and throwing my horns
And just like old school Sabbath, Zeppelin, and Lemmy
I need to drop it down low and make it heavy
I like it heavy, whoa
I like it heavy, whoa

I ride the lightning, roll with the thunder
Going down, down, down with my sisters and brothers
I fell in love with the darkest parts
Standing on the side of the wild at heart
I plucked a feather off a crow
So I could fly
Since I was 13 years old
I’ve had my horns to the sky

I like it louder than the boom of a big bass drum
I need it harder than the sound of guitar grunge
I like to crank it up, make it thump, all needles to the core
Head banging in the pit and throwing my horns
And just like old school Sabbath, Zeppelin, and Lemmy
I need to drop it down low and make it heavy
I like it heavy, whoa
I like it heavy, whoa

I like it, it like it, I like it heavy
I like it, it like it, I like it heavy
I like it, it like it, I like it heavy
I like it, it like it, I like it heavy

Some like beautiful perfect and pretty
I see the good in the bad and the ugly
I like it heavy, whoa
I like it heavy, whoa

I like it, it like it, I like it heavy
I like it, it like it, I like it heavy
I like it, it like it, I like it heavy
I like it, it like it, I like it heavy
