Notices: In fourth lesson you will learn how to mute notes with
your left hand and what is legato.

Then we will learn our third song.

Ex. 1 - To mute note with left hand you have to play a
sound. After that you should lift your fingers from frets.
That kind of playing (muting with left hand) is known as
STACCATO. Listen to example.

Ex. 2 - LEGATO is another kind of playing - "An
indication to play music in a connected, smooth
fashion." There are two methods of playing slides. In
first of them you have to pick both notes that are
connected with slide (that is not legato). In second
method you have to pick only first note (and that is
legato).

You were supposed to make a homework when we
were learning our first song. I said that there is a
difference between bars 25 and 29. That difference is
method of playing - 25 bar is played staccato
(because chord in that bar should be muted with left
hand) and 29 bar is played legato (because there is a
"legato slide").

Look at this exercise to understand what am I talking
about. I have marked "legato slides" - you will
find "L" above them.

In third song you will practice your new skills.
Remember about accenting chords (for example 22-29
bars - play muted single notes ["2"] and unmuted
chords).
