Titre: Hardiman The Fiddler
Sous-titre: (slip jig in 9/8 time)
Artiste: Nic Jones
Album: In Search of Nic Jones (released 1998)
Auteur: (Trad. arr. Jones)
Copyright: n/a
Transcrit par: PJ
Instructions: For solo guitar (track 1 for fingers, track 2 for thumb).
Notes: "Since I wasn't that good a fiddler, I thought I'd like to
play it on the guitar." - Nic Jones

I'm pretty sure this is the correct tuning (C modal)
though I learned it by ear from the CD. The most
important thing is to get the right rhythm, and sound
from the bass strings; use heavy down-strokes with a
thumb-pick and permanent palm muting (a la Martin
Carthy) - when the higher strings are picked open,
always try to let them ring. Apparently Jones & Carthy
play really hard with heavy strings, but playing normally
with light strings (and in this case tuned down to C)
can produce the same effect.

Any comments appreciated!
